Will Work from Home: Earn the Cash–Without the Commute: Tory Johnson, Robyn Freedman Spizman

Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
In the 1990s, a few clairvoyant writers zeroed in on Americans’ yearning to work from home—and quite a few corporations took note. A decade later, similar advice is being proffered to women from Johnson and Spizman, two mediagenic executives. What’s the change from a decade ago? First, this is more inspirational than practical; the authors do cover writing business plans, for example, but in outline manner. Individual anecdotes are plentiful, as are action steps at the end of each chapter. Second, it is geared to women who, to be honest, are usually the ones demanding career flexibility. Third, it’s filled with rather basic information, the ABC’s of asking to become a teleworker or a quiz testing homebound readiness. To give the authors their due, there is an important chapter on avoiding scams. Good tips and good words abound, although it’s somewhat surprising that two such accomplished professionals push the same kind of work-at-home occupations for women, such as interior design, instead of helping blaze a trail. –Barbara Jacobs
